Village Garbage Collection

The Village of Sheridan had signed into a contract with Complete Sanitation of Plano, Illinois to be the sole waste hauler for all residents in the Village of Sheridan.  The contract is valid through January 31, 2017.

Complete Sanitation is obligated to collect trash from Village residents every Friday and recycling items every other Friday.  If a holiday happens to land on a Friday (Christmas Day, New Year's Day, 4th of July) trash will be collected on the Saturday following the Holiday.

Village Sewer Maintenance Fee

On April 13, 2009, the Village of Sheridan Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance #2009-15 "An Ordinance Establishing Sewer User Fees".  This Ordinance authorizes the Village of Sheridan to impose a fee that will be used toward the maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system.

This sewer maintenance fee is $10.00 per month for each single-family dwelling, each dwelling unit in a two-family or multi-family dwelling and each business entity connected to the sanitary sewer.  These bills are being sent out on a quarterly basis and due within 30 days.  The Board has decided to give any homeowners a $10.00 discount if the fee is paid for a full year in advance which would be $110.00 rather than the $120.00 annual payment.  This $10.00 per month fee is being deposited into a special Sewer Reserve Fund and will only be used toward any repairs being made to the sanitary system.

Should this fee become delinquent, a late fee shall be added at the rate of 1% per month, a lien shall be place on the property and the homeowner will be responsible for all related fees including that of the Village Attorney.  The Village may also, at their option, terminate sewer service.
